I was expecting a darker finish but the tops of these have a slight orange cast with a definite grain stripe and the rim around the top is lighter and shiny. The legs are wood, the table top feels like compressed wood with a veneer finish and the rim around the top looks plastic but I think its just a bad attempt at matching the woodtone. They aren't horrible but I was hoping for something to match the other darker tables I have.I would return but it's too much trouble so I will probably paint. The size and sturdiness are good for the money.
