I bought this to replace a coat rack with a narrow shelf from which my gloves and headbands were constantly and irritatingly falling to the floor. I chose this unit because its shelves are easily wide enough to store those gloves and headbands, a small purse or two, etc. -- plus additional stuff on the top shelf. The six hooks (four at the back, and one on each side) are very sturdy and attractive. The engineered wood is of far better quality than the cheap fiberboard that so many modern shelving units, cupboards, benches and other modern "furniture" is made of.I put this together myself (I'm an older woman), and it was easy to do. But do definitely follow the instruction booklet!(Assembly is particularly easy if you've put together Ikea furniture, which I've done a lot of in my lifetime. Same principal and same types of fasteners. It WAS difficult to get this thing hung on the wall. It's HEAVY and needs to be anchored properly. (You attach an enclosed board to the wall. That board has an angled top which then fits into the corresponding angle of a board attached to the back of the shelving unit/coat rack.) But the weight of the unit makes it difficult to hoist up to the height at which you'll want to hang it. If you have a second person helping you, you'll be able to get it done. If you're going solo, be very careful that you're actually able to lift its weight and set it where it needs to be on the wall.Incidentally, the "Cape Cod gray" is a very nice, warm gray which complements our pale gray walls nicely. I had thought to order white (our house has white trim), but Bush's white is an off white and I decided it might look "dirty" in comparison to our very white door trim and baseboards. That was a good decision as the Cape Cod gray is a fine color, as I said, and will look good just about anywhere, I would think.
