This chair looks elegant, rustic and very sturdy. It’s solid wood, harder than pine, but not as hard as oak. It’s very simple to put it together, taking perhaps an hour to an hour and a half. I left it unpainted/unfinished, as I really like the look of the natural wood. Two things worth noting about assembly. I included a photo of how I clamped the seat down while screwing the wood seat to the frame. The screws did not cinch it up tight enough on their own, so I clamped it down and then the space between seat and frame closed up nicely. The other thing to note is that the wood is hard enough where screwing in the wood screws for the seat and rungs is not difficult, but hard enough where you might be tempted to use a screw gun, but on a similar chair I assembled from International Concepts, one of the screws broke and I could not remove the broken screw. Hence, it is better to hand screw it in so you can moderate the amount of torque your applying while screwing it in. (Note, on the other chair, when the screw broke off, all I had to do was drill a parallel hole with a 1/8” drill bit, and I screwed in a new screw beside it). But, these chairs are great and sturdy and are a great price!
