These boots felt great from the first time I put them on. Literally no break in time was required. As a general rule all of my Double H boots have been comfortable right away. I bought these mainly to accommodate my growing need of a little shorter heal compared to the 2" heals on my Ariat boots. The 1 5/8" heal seems to be standard on Double H classic western styled boots.. As I get older the higher healed boots start to cause me a little discomfort if I must stand or walk for a long time. These boots maintain the classic western style I like without having to move to a roper. The craftsmanship appears to equal other Double H boots I own with two exceptions; First is the stitching on the vamp is not perfect and looks to have small factory imperfections on both boots. This is barely noticable and only shows up on a detailed inspection. Secondly is the thickness of the leather pulls or ears. It simply is thinner than other Double H boots I own. This may be due to the presence of pull holes on these boots which my others don't have. Thinner leather may have been used since most people will use the pull holes not the ears. I use pull hooks through the ears to put mine on so I'll have to be careful in the future or use the holes.Because I'm nitpicking here I still give them 5 of 5 stars especially when quality vs cost is considered. This is my 5th pair of Double H boots and I can honestly say I have NEVER worn a pair out! I've simply had changes in my size as I get older. Namely gone from a 10-D to a 12-EE over the last 45 years. I can objectively say that the ICE outsoles cannot be worn out. You will wear out the leather before you wear out the soles. If you maintain your boots properly and care for the leather they may last a lifetime. Yes they will wear and develope some character as they age but even with wearing them 2-3 days per week I have Double H boots 25+ years old! I have several pairs of boots as they are my preferred footwear so I rotate which ones I wear a couple times each week. This helps the boot dry out a little after a long day at work or play. Hands down my Double H boots are the most comfortable boots I own.
