I was looking for something more natural to put on the top bunk of my daughter's bunk bed. I wanted something not too thick because of the risk of covering the railing too much. This futon was purchased as a place to play or for someone to occasionally sleep on. I have slept on this futon mattress a handful of times thus far, and slept really well. It is firm. No odor at all.
