This watchband is obviously more expensive than the vast majority of leather and rubber straps on the market. What makes this style unique is the combination of calfskin leather face and a rubber backing and core, called officially Caoutchouc rubber that give the band extra strength so it should last longer than an all leather band and make it waterproof. I have immersed the band in water and I can attest to it being VIRTUALLY waterproof. I say virtually because the rubber back and core are totally waterproof, but the calfskin leather retains just a bit of water but dries within minutes after being totally soaked and instantly if just wet by running water over it.The combination of leather and rubber also give the band sort of a rugged yet somewhat dressy look that should be compatible for any occasion The band is comfortable, does not stretch or get out of shape. Also it won't get "funky" like some 100% leather bands. This style band will look best with a mid priced to high end priced watch. Who would pay $90 for a watchband and put it on a $35 watch??? This style "George" comes in brown or black and I believe also a reddish or bronze color. Highly Recommended.
