The soles of my feet are very sensitive. I have always had a hard time finding shoes I can live with so usually spend my days in LL Bean moccasins or Sketchers sneakers. I had a fairly comfy pair of LaCrosse hunting boots but they were appropriated by one of my grandsons who likes to fish in backwoods rocky creeks bordered by ravines. I decided to try these LaCrosse Atlas boots to handle this kind of terrain. I took them on a 1.5 mile test hike on some steep up and down paths, strewn with rocks and roots, crossed multiple creeks either walking through shallow water or stepping on flat wet rocks. They passed the test so well that I thought about leaving them on the rest of the day. I've worn them a number of times since, with the same result. Tread grip, ankle support, and waterproofing are excellent. I've started to take hikes just for the pleasure of it.
