An Accessible A-style Mandolin From its nascent beginnings in Europe in the 17th century, the mandolin has been used as an accompanying instrument in various string ensembles. By the first half of the 20th century, the mandolin emerged as a key component of the American musical landscape, thanks to Bill Monroe, “the Father of Bluegrass.” Ibanez provides beginning to intermediate mandolin players with an accessible and high-quality option: the M510. This A-style mandolin features a beautiful spruce top with sapele back and sides, an okoume neck, and a purpleheart fretboard. Many Sweetwater mandolin players declare that the spruce wood provides a clear, bright tone, while the accompanying sapele delivers a warm, balanced sound comparable to mahogany. Whether your preference is traditional folk, country, bluegrass, or classical music, the Ibanez M510 is an excellent choice for both accomplished players and those who are musically curious.Ibanez M510 Features: Spruce top, sapele back

I’m new to mandolin. For the price this mandolin is very nice. Finished well. Decent tuning pegs. Sounds good and is easy enough to play with the action, frets, and strings just as they came. The bridge will need to be set up. The mandolin came with slack in the strings and a piece of thin foam protection under the bridge. Set up was not a big deal for my beginner needs. I measured from the nut to the twelfth fret. Then equal distance from twelve to the bridge. Sounds good. Stays in tune. Intonation seems ok to me. But I have a beginner’s ear. I am glad I bought this. It will take me years of practice to outgrow this instrument.
