Product Description

Wholesome Fair Trade Organic Cane Sugar is made from freshly squeezed organic sugar cane. The cane juice, rich in molasses, is evaporated and crystallized. The result is a blonde-colored, perfectly sweet, natural sugar that will enhance your favorite coffee, tea, cereal or baked good. Organic sugar is naturally gluten free and can be used as a 1-for-1 replacement for refined white sugar. Wholesome has a strong commitment to sustainable Non-GMO agriculture. In adherence with strict organic standards, the organic sugar cane fields are green cut and are not burned or treated with herbicides or synthetic fertilizers. This is better for the environment, which ultimately, is better for everyone. This also creates the highest quality, most delicious-tasting unrefined sugar you can find. No chemicals or animal by-products are used to make or decolorize this sugar making it ideal for vegans. Fair Trade Certification is Wholesome’s guarantee that our farming cooperatives are paid directly for the cane they grow and mill. The quality of this is incredible! For my family of four, this sugar lasted TWO YEARS! You cannot beat the value of this. This is the best quality sugar on the market and the price is unbeatable. I stored mine in glass jars with food grade desiccate packets to keep the moisture out. We're on our last jar now and we purchased this 50 lb. bag in August of 2017. I only stopped to write this review as I'm getting ready to buy more! If you're on the fence about it, don't be. It really is great! The flavor is more robust than regular white sugar. It took us a week or two to get used to it, and if I bake with it, I add about a quarter cup more than the recommended amount called for in the recipe. If your recipe calls for 1/2 cup of white sugar and 1/2 cup of brown, I just use 1 1/4 cups of this instead! It works out great!Came in great shape. Fluffy and deliciousArrived in a very poorly wrapped package with sugar leaking out.Debating if I should just send it back, but it is very heavy and has sugar all over.Which would be difficult for me to wrap up and send back.It a lot of money .... wasted.I only use organic confectioners sugar after finding out that the other is made with bone and is not vegetarian / vegan. I used to get perturbed when I would see products like sugar with the label vegan thinking that they were trying to benefit from the health craze... Little did I know that there are many products that one would not think has meat or animal products that do! Confectioners sugar being one of them.. Domino sugar is refined with bone and is thus not a vegan product so I was introduced to this brand and I love the fact that they are also organic. I ordered two bags and one came shipped without any protective packaging and by the time it go to me it was disgusting and seemed as though it had gotten damp along the way. I was swiftly issued a refund, that was expedited and it hit the same day. The other bag came in a protective box and I had no problems with it.One very happy customer.Well, I now have enough Sucanat for the next four years! For some reason, none of local stores can get it anymore, so I bought this enormous bag, the only economical way I could feed my habit. This is the real stuff, genuine Sucanat, at a fraction of the per-pound price in human scale quantities. If you have the room, this is the way to go. It was very well packaged in a moisture proof bag, and well packed for shipping. For those of you new to the product, this is not sugar - it's dehydrated cane juice and has a much smoother, "darker" flavor than sugar. I highly recommend this product, and in this quantity the price cannot be beat. One thing to keep in mind though, if this is important to you: this is NOT organic Sucanat. But it's good enough for me.When my package arrived I was genuinely surprised—and grateful that the whole package and bag was intact. I have purchased dozens of packages of baking supplies on amazon with many of them not seeming to be able to ship without incident or damage. So I’m very grateful to have had no issues. I also REALLY liked that the package filler was something that was sustainable and recyclable. That was SO exciting. It is getting harder and harder to find organic pure cane sugar. I didn't really need to buy this large a volume, but since I had a clean, food grade bucket to store it in, I bought this large amount. I am glad I did. I now have enough for quite a while. I like the taste much better than what I bought previously which was the Heavenly Organic whole cane sugar. I know we all have different tastes, so please don't think I am saying the Heavenly Organic whole cane sugar is bad. I just prefer this over it.I love sucanat. This has been my favorite sweetener for over 20 years, ever since reading a PCC article about it being among the healthiest of sweeteners. It has a nice caramel like flavor, good in coffee, and makes excellent flan without having to make a caramel syrup. I've tried the organic sucanat, but it costs more, and I like the flavor of this better. No local stores carry it, so I buy this 50 lb. bag and sell 4 lb. bags of it to our friends. Makes excellent jam, ie. 16 cups peaches or apricots, 1/4 cup lemon juice, 1 cup sucanat and 1/2 cup honey using Pamona's pectin.
