I got this cage for my two baby rats, banana and sushi. I had a hard time assembling it, but once I got some help it cane together nicely. I like how I can move the shelves around and take out the ramps, and I like that it has two doors that open on the front. The rats love it; Sushi especially likes hiding under the lowest shelf in her little corner. (Pictured above with her Pringle’s can)After about a month, I noticed that where the side of the door meets up with the cage was opening a little too easy, and I was worried that the latch wasn’t as strong and they might find a way to pry it open. It was a super easy fix- I just clipped it shut with a binder clip, and now it stays together and there’s no way they can escape. (Pictured above)As for cleaning, if you choose to leave the ramps in, you’ll have to take them out to clean/wash really good, because stuff can build up on the ridges. I took the ramps out so that the would have to jump and climb and find different ways to get to different parts of the cage. (Pictured above) I clean the shelves off twice a week, replace the aspen bedding and clean the entire bottom once a week, and they seem to be very comfy and happy. It can really only fit two rats comfortably, getting a third would be stretching it, especially if they’re males. My girls are still pretty small, but if we add on to our family or they end up getting even bigger, we may have to upgrade to a bigger cage.This cage is great quality, easy to take care of, and it’s actually affordable. Highly recommend to first time rat parents!
