Recently discovered that I am part Native American (1%), so I decided to explore my cultural roots from that side of the family. Ordered the flute... man its pretty cool. I had to fool with it for about ten minutes before I figured out how to get a good clear sound consistently... it has to do with how well your fingers cover up the holes and the adjustment of the eagle over the upper reed... not difficult to figure out. Don't blow too hard... you know... just mess with it.I went out and sat on the front porch. Live out in the country. I was playing the flute and all of these little song birds came and gathered around. It was kind of like Zelda. I mean, they didn't get that close, and it is spring and birds are all over the place. But they seemed to like the flute... bluebirds, robins, cardinals, even noisy brother blue jay perched nearby while I was playing.Plan is to keep practicing. I mean, this thing is great quality. Not some cheap piece of crap. I do a little hand carving myself and can tell the flute was done by hand... by the way the carving is. Especially on the eagle. Flute looks cool; could prop it up somewhere as a functional decoration.Gonna try and come up with a few songs... I'd like to have some sort of "end of the hunt song" ready for next deer season. I always get kinda torn, sad feeling after I get a deer. I mean, you've got to appreciate the life of the deer, I'll never have any respect for folks that just shoot them for fun. But my family has always been respectful, keep a freezer full of deer meat. But it'd be cool to play some sort of end of life song for brother deer. After the hunt. A little song of honor and respect. And its ok to be a little weird. I don't care. Like Bob Ross says on his show all the time. Its ok to be different.Amen. Good flute. I don't mind paying a little bit more to support Jonah Thompson. He makes a quality instrument. If you want a quality handmade Native American flute that sounds great and is really cool, rock'n'roll.
