TOP LINE/BOTTOM LINE - this is an amazing bag. I admit to being a bag/luggage junkie. I do travel a lot, and I am an industrial designer, and I do sometimes carry weird things in my luggage, but I have so many bags and rolling thingies and duffels etc that I would need to live 4 lives to use them all. Recently I was traveling and saw a guy w this bag and had to ask him about it. He was one happy camper. I ordered it from my phone, from Amazon, before we took off. I am in love.LOOK, FIT & FINISH: It's beautiful, it's leather, and leather weighs more than nylon or other synthetics, so that is the price of admission. It is not too heavy at all, and everything else makes up for that small issue. There's lots of well thought out pockets. The zippers and all construction are all high quality. Padding is nice inside - for tablets, laptops, etc. There's even a snap-removable extra-goodies-pouch inside.BACKPACK/SHOULDER BAG CONVERSION: The backpack strap option is amazingly well done. Years ago Eagle Creek offered a similar feature on a somewhat smaller nylon bag that I use EVERY day, and I've traveled around the world w it. This McKlein bag nails that feature in a larger, leather bag. When the backpack straps aren't being used they tuck away in a rear compartment. Wonderful. I did find that the backpack straps are simply too long for me (I do not have linebacker shoulders, so even when long-sized for use over a heavy coat, there was too much leftover hanging strap when adjusted for me), I marked the max size I wanted and then had a shoe repair guy cut the two straps and finish and sew the ends. You'd never know. Fits for me now on all occasions. One other reviewer sewed some velcro to keep the extra lengths from dangling. This is definitely NOT a big issue. This is a great bag you will love it. When I brought it to the shoe repair guy for the $10 cutting/sewing, he was asking all about the bag, commenting on the leather and quality of all fittings.MAIDEN VOYAGES: It's first BIG business trip is coming up this week, and then there'll be two more the next two weeks. Looking forward to it. BTW - the description is wrong - it is NOT 22" x 47" - that would be one giant backpack! It's a great size and surely will fit a nicely. It doesn't have an outside water bottle carrier. I can live without that. It also doesn't have a strap to allow for it to be quickly slung over a rolling bag's upright handle. I went online to [...] and for about $5.00 order an adjustable nylon strap that is lightweight and quickly clips diagonally to some of the existing beautiful strap rings on the bag. Problem solved. I love this bag.
